The Johnson
County Tobacco Education Task Force is a group
of community volunteers dedicated to improving
the health of the community by promoting
smoke free and tobacco free environments and
lifestyles. Task Force membership is very
diverse, ranging from physicians and dentists to
members of the school district, media and
general public
Mission
The Johnson County Tobacco
Education Task Force is committed to improving
the health of our community through increased
awareness of tobacco-related issues at all
levels, from the institutions of Johnson County
to the family and individual levels. With
accurate facts and current information provided
by a committed and sincere Task Force, the
entire Johnson County community can improve
itself in the area of tobacco use and its
harmful effects.
Goals
- To
facilitate local activism on tobacco
prevention issues through better information
- To promote
tobacco-prevention measures through training
and experience
- To create a
healthier environment at all community
levels through a steady effort toward
elimination/reduction of tobacco use
- To provide
opportunities for interested individuals to
volunteer to work on tobacco issues
How To Get
Involved
The Task Force is
continually seeking to expand its network.
There are several different levels of
involvement:
- Volunteer your time – come to our next
meeting and find out what is going on.
- Register for an upcoming event – the Task
Force conducts public education campaigns
and
data collection projects such as
restaurant/bar surveys, etc.
- Write a Letter to the Editor – voice
your opinion on tobacco related issues, or
inform the media in an op-ed column.
- Make a Donation – You can donate to a
specific activity or anything you would
like…and remember, donations do not always
have to be financial.
